Training Description

This training will serve professionals in the early childhood education classrooms by increasing their awareness of the importance of infusing language in all routines throughout the day. This training will assist with the understanding of the different communication milestones of infants, toddlers, and twos and those in the pre-k environments. We will take a journey through the different age levels and what communication looks like at these stages and then we will continue this journey by applying principles learned into their classrooms. We will take a look at how language is impacted when children are faced with challenges due to behaviors or have delayed developmental needs.

Learning outcomes

• Participants will learn the importance of the different communication milestones of infants, toddlers, and two year olds and how to identify the milestones.

• Participants will learn several “Talking Tips” to use with their infants and toddlers during daily routine within the classroom environment in order to increase communication and language development.

• Participants will learn how to identify and assist those in their classrooms with language difficulties and will learn strategies to use as well as make and take items to take with them back to their classrooms.
